  • We received our recruit's mail in ballot today. I know he is able to exercise his right to vote while in boot camp. Will they offer to assist with this or will he need to request an absentee ballot?

    • Volunteer

Sara At boot camp, voting is discussed with the recruits and if they want to vote they are given instructions on how to do so. If they need help the DIs are there to assist them. I believe they are referred to the IVAO on base.

The Installation Voting Assistance Office (IVAO) provides information on voting, how to request absentee ballots, write-in absentee ballots for each state for all military service members, voting-age dependents and also assists federal civil servants with basic voting information.
Additionally, the IVAO provides information on the Federal Voting Assistance Program and it's associated website which contains the latest up-to-date voting news and information.

I would write you recruit and let him know you reieved the mail in ballot so that they know and can talk with his DI about it.

It is my understanding that they are provided opportunities to request absentee ballots. I'll tag another volunteer who knows more about this during boot camp. Dana Powell VO Sara

  • Hey there! Where should we be looking to get more updated information on graduation on November 25. It appears the Drill Instructor's Dinner is full. I hope I'm reading that wrong on Eventbrite.😔

Christy Meld I responded to another one of your comments in regards to this. We are posting daily in the Alpha Co page and there will be graduation/family day information. It does appear the Meet and Greet dinner is full. You can call the Bayview Restaurant and put your name on a list in case someone needs to cancel.

Hi Christy Meld ! Your recruit's group and the daily posts and matrix are here: https://connectandshare.com/groups/sda San Diego Alpha, is that right? There will be a place to ask questions in there. I'll tag one of the volunteers here for you as well: Dana Powell VO
