Use the links below to access the Official Marine Corps websites for the mailing addresses of recruits at both Parris Island and San Diego. Follow the instructions on the Official Marine Corps websites linked below for addressing mail to a recruit in boot camp. Be sure you select the correct Recruit Depot: San Diego is on the West Coast in California, and Parris Island is on the East Coast in South Carolina.
Things to keep in mind when mailing a letter to a recruit:
- "RECRUIT" is essential: Do not use any rank and do not refer to the recruit as "Marine" when addressing letters to recruits. Abbreviate Recruit as RCT.
- Company and Platoon: Include the recruit's specific company and platoon number.*
*DO NOT send mail to your recruit if you have not received the platoon number and company from your recruit. You'll get your recruit's platoon number from the first letter they send home, which typically arrives about 7-10 days after they arrive in boot camp. This letter will include the complete mailing address for the recruit, which needs the company and platoon number for the mail to be correctly sorted and delivered. For more detailed information, click this link for When Will I Know My Recruit's Platoon Number article on our Recruit Parents website.
No Care Packages: We discourage sending anything but letters to recruits in boot camp. We suggest you refrain from sending care packages to a recruit in boot camp. For more detailed information, click this link for the Mail and Packages During Boot Camp article on our Recruit Parents website.
In addition to your recruit's mailing address, the Marine Corps websites linked below include a wealth of information on Recruit Training and Graduation.
